Wedding Invitations

Today, wedding is about style and a statement that you make to the community. To have a theme wedding is another upcoming fad. A Wedding invitation is the first glimpse your guests will get of your wedding, Thus, it is important that the wedding theme be carried on through the wedding invitations as well.
The perfect Invitation card is the perfect beginning to your dream wedding.

Contemporary wedding cards come in various shapes, sizes and designs with photographs and poems printed, and are colourful, exquisite and unique. Most couples like to use their creative flair. They design their own wedding invitation cards and get an estimate for the same from the printers. One can also entrust an artist or an artist’s agency for making that unique wedding statement.

There are a range of designs available- from traditional to contemporary; colours from pleasing pastels to earthy and vibrant; papers from handmade, banana fiber, silk-laid to imported art card. Motifs like Mumbai’s much adored Ganapati is preferred in myriad forms and style. Concepts like using mouli thread and real supari are also popular. The cost per invitation cards can range from Rs3 to Rs10 per card for simple ones to the more elaborate ones which can go from Rs50 to Rs75 per card. The price can also go up to Rs. 500 per card, if it boasts a silk exterior studded with semi-precious stone.

Silk screen offset printings are in vogue. With improved technology the printers are now able to offer better choices to the customers.

A hand fan, an auspicious coconut, a scroll, a bridegroom’s turban, or a doli, it is difficult to fathom how many things a wedding card can resemble unless you flip open those fat catalogues.

If the same numbers of guests are not being invited for all the ceremonies, it’s a common practice to have different cards for every function. This helps in planning the guest list well.

Important information that must be included are:

  • the type of wedding ceremony
  • name of the hosts
  • name of the bride and the groom
  • date and year
  • time
  • address of the venue for various ceremonies
  • RSVP with addresses and phone number.
  • Make sure you order extra invitations, just in case you decide to increase the number of guests later.
  • Order a few extra envelopes to allow for damages or errors while writing addresses.
  • Order all the invitations at the same time. Placing small orders is costlier than placing one large order.
  • Double check the printers proofs for errors

A few things to remember while you’re writing your wedding invitation:
Use full names, not nicknames.
Don’t abbreviate the dates, times, and addresses
Use Courtesy titles where appropriate (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Miss).
