Bridal
Makeup checklist
All eyes will be on you on your wedding day. Photographers will
be clicking your pictures all the time. You want to look your best
on your BIG DAY.
But
to have that flawless look on your wedding day, you must start
preparing atleast two weeks in advance.
You
can have a good and clean skin by following a basic routine. Make-up
will look flaky, if the skin is not in good condition.
Here
are a few beauty tips you could follow:
- Start your skin care routine, months before your wedding.
- Every night apply olive oil or almond oil with your fingertips
on your face and neck, massaging gently but firmly in circular
motion. Leave it for sometime and then scrub your face using
a scrub – (either the ready ones or the home made ones).
Multhani mitti (fuller's earth- available in any Indian medicine
shop) mixed with milk cream (for dry skin) or rose water (for
oily skin) dislodges dirt, white heads and black heads effectively.
Pat your face dry. And apply moisturizer.
- You can try applying Vaseline petroleum jelly on your lips
for soft and smooth lips.
- If you have dark circles, start applying avocado pulp under
your eyes
- You can massage your body with a mixture of yoghurt, egg
yolks, honey, powdered almonds and oats powder. The mixture
should not be too thin. If it is, add more oats. Let it dry
and wash it off with lukewarm water.
- Go on a fruit and vegetable diet, two days before the wedding,
to cleanse your body of toxins.
- Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol and cigarettes. Also avoid citrus
fruits. Drink a light, herbal tea (Camomile tea with just a
teaspoon of honey is supposed to be a great nerve-calmer)
- Drink lots of water and stay out of the sun in the weeks
leading up to the wedding.
- If you don’t use lip balm and moisturizer, now is the
time to start. These items will help to keep your skin refreshed.
Lip balm will moisturize your lips which is helpful because
otherwise lip colour will fade unevenly on dry lips.
Make up tips to have that look on your wedding day
- Make sure you take a makeup trial approximately two weeks
before your wedding. This will give you time to make adjustments
to your look.
- Keep your makeup on for the duration of a meal, and see how
you look after a few hours. You might even want to get a spray
bottle and spritz some water on your face to simulate tears.
This will help you determine if your makeup has the staying
power you will need.
- If you cannot do your own makeup, use a professional make
up artist.
- It is a good idea to apply some moisturizer about twenty
minutes before you start to apply your makeup. This will help
to reduce slide.
- Use some concealer underneath your eyes. If you foresee that
you'll be doing some crying, look for an oil-based concealer.
- Avoid pink tone foundation. It will make your face appear
pale in photographs. Also when you apply foundation make sure
you apply it evenly in all exposed areas your neck, hand and
back. If you have oily skin, then choose a matte foundation
that is water based. But regardless of the type or colour, the
single most important thing for your wedding day make-up is
powder! Only powder will 'set ' your make-up giving you that
long lasting effect.
- Avoid pale blushers. Warm shades go with Indian complexions
and also photographs well.
- Apply upward strokes from the apples of the cheeks to the
temples. For a more defined look, brush some blush along your
jaw line to lend a narrowing effect. Blend it evenly. Control
the urge to go heavy.
- Lipstick should complement your outfit. Avoid pale colours
and flashy colours. As most bridal wear tend to be bright, either
of the choices will spoil the overall effect.
- Do not bite your lips. You’ll end up getting lipstick
on your teeth.
- Outline the tips with the same shade lip pencil. Fill it
first with lip pencil and then apply lipstick to prevent ‘ring-around-the-lips’.
Blot it with a tissue, brush it with some powder and apply a
second coat to last longer.
- Don't ever pluck or wax brows on the day of the wedding.
There's always the chance overdoing it and you could develop
red rashes.
- To start with, shape your eyes softly with an eyeliner. Avoid
very harsh lines, instead opt for a natural look.
- A good idea is to use eye shadow primer before putting on
the eye colour and apply a neutral shadow over the eye. This
will give you a softer and a more natural look.
- Prep your eyelids with an eye shadow base or a little face
powder.
- Use an off-white pencil inside the lower rims of the eyes
to brighten them
- Your eye shadow should complement your skin tone and the
outfit your wear.
- Do not use false eyelashes, for it looks odd in real life.
- Curl your lashes, by holding a curl lasher over them for
about five seconds.
- Apply two coats of waterproof mascara. Let each coat dry
for a few seconds before applying the next layer. If you think
you'll cry a lot, leave your lower lashes clean and you will
reduce the smudging.
- Keep the eye make-up simple by taking a shadow in three compatible
colors. Apply the lightest just below your brow bone, and the
medium shade over the rest of the lid. Blend with your fingers
where the two colors meet. Now apply the darker color in the
crease of your eye and gently blend to give your eye some depth
and definition.
- While applying make-up, blend it well. There should not be
any visible lines. In case you are using translucent powder,
for a long-lasting make-up, avoid patting too much. It will
make your skin look dry and flaky.
- Make sure that your lipstick and eye shadow are compatible.
Don’t overdo on the glossy bit of the lipstick.
- Make sure you use smudge-proof eye makeup. Wedding ceremonies
take a longer time and you might rub the eyes accidentally.
- To ensure that your skin is not damaged by the makeup, remove
the makeup before you change.
- Apply cleansing milk and wash it with warm water.
- Layer the perfume to create a magical aura of scented pleasure.
